We play a key role in reducing the climate impact of plastic packaging and contributing to Sweden’s climate targets. Not only because we are responsible for sorting and recycling, but because we influence the entire value chain. We support producers in designing packaging that can be recycled, and our traceability and results are essential for consumers to have confidence in the system and choose to sort their waste at source.
The greatest climate impact from plastic packaging occurs before it reaches us, and in subsequent recycling processes. However, emissions and energy consumption also arise during the sorting process, and we have clear targets to reduce them. For example, by working on energy use, transport and the operation of sorting equipment.
Since 2020, we have annually prepared a climate account in accordance with the GHG Protocol, covering Scopes 1–3 across the value chain. This provides us with a transparent way to track climate impact throughout the value chain and steer towards our climate goals.

If you are interested in how we drive the market and use policy instruments to promote greater circularity, you can read more below, as well as on the separate ‘Advocacy’ subpage in the menu.
”We have proven that high-quality plastic recycling works at industrial scale — pointing the industry in a new direction and opening a real path toward greater circularity.”
