We are owned by the trade associations responsible for producer responsibility for plastic packaging, and our board is made up of industry representatives. This means that the positions we advocate are not formulated in isolation from the industry, but in collaboration with it. This gives our advocacy work a legitimacy and impact that extends further than a single company could normally achieve.
How we work
We engage in advocacy work at national level and within the EU – through consultation responses, industry forums and working groups, dialogue with authorities and decision-makers, and participation in seminars, conferences and the media. We also welcome politicians and other key stakeholders to our facility. Through active participation in research and development partnerships, we are also building the knowledge base that drives these issues forward.
The issues we champion are about making high-quality recycling the norm, ensuring legislation distinguishes between recycling methods with different climate benefits, and making traceability and transparency the industry standard. The EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) now makes precisely this distinction, which is a concrete breakthrough for what we have long been working towards.
