How we work

We are active throughout the value chain to reduce the climate footprint of plastic packaging and enable truly circular plastic flows.

We collaborate with producers and producer responsibility organisations on design for recycling, work to increase collection rates, and ensure that as much material as possible is sorted and recycled within our own closed-loop systems.

Our ability to identify and sort the right types of plastic — in the right way — influences the entire value chain and enables us to offer a range of services to the market.

What we offer packaging producers

We are the only operator in the Nordics offering a RecyClass-approved test facility for sorting tests of plastic packaging.. Our tests are performed in accordance with Annex II of RecyClass Sorting Evaluation Protocol for Plastic Packaging.

Our tests of the sortability of plastic packaging are conducted as follows:

  1. You send us the specific packaging together with a completed material specification form.
  2. We evaluate the sortability using the latest industrial NIR equipment.
  3. You will receive a final report containing a test result, which indicates the probability that the packaging sample and any packaging components will be sorted into the correct fraction. We also report any observations that may have affected the test result, such as design aspects, size, shape and colour of the packaging.

We offer tests in connection with RecyClass certification of a package’s recyclability (design for recycling). The results of the test can be used as input for, for example ”Recyclability assessment by a Certification Body”.

The test goes like this:

  1. You contact one of RecyClass chartered accountant, who, in connection with their assignment, will inform you of the need for a sorting test.
  2. You send in the specific packaging together with a completed material specification.
  3. We evaluate the sortability using the latest industrial NIR equipment.
  4. You will receive a final report containing a test result, which indicates the probability that the packaging sample and any packaging components will be sorted into the correct fraction. We also report any observations that may have affected the test result, such as design aspects, size, shape and colour of the packaging.

We offer testing in connection with technology or product approval by RecyClass. This is part of ”RecyClass Technology/Product Approval”.

The test works as follows:

  1. You initiate an assignment with RecyClass to obtain technology recognition. If sorting tests are required to complete the assignment, you contact us.
  2. You send in the specific packaging together with a completed material specification and a Letter of Agreement from the RecyClass Technical Committee.
  3. We evaluate the sortability using the latest industrial NIR equipment.
  4. You will receive a final report containing the test results, which indicate the probability that the packaging sample and any packaging components will be sorted into the correct fraction. We also report any observations that may have affected the test result, such as design aspects, size, shape and colour of the packaging.
  5. If necessary, we can also assist in presenting the test results to the RecyClass Technical Committee.

Our work with research and development

Moving from a linear to a circular economy for plastic packaging requires major systemic changes and technological developments. We are investing both time and financial resources in a number of different research and development projects.
