We have received prior approval for cross-border transport, valid for three years. This confirms that our operations meet the requirements set by the regulatory authorities – and provides significant benefits for both us and our customers.
What is prior approval?
Pre-approval means that our foreign customers who send materials to us for sorting can receive notifications for cross-border waste transport that are valid for three years. The permit is based on careful assessments of our handling, documentation and compliance with environmental and safety requirements.
For us, this covers the transport of unsorted plastic packaging from Finland and Norway.
For our customers, this means:
Peace of mind in using a service provider that is approved in accordance with current EU regulations
Faster and smoother transport, as the risk of delivery interruptions due to lengthy notification processes is reduced
Reduced administrative burden, as the notification process is carried out every three years instead of annually.
”With valid pre-approval, we can increase the predictability of our logistics flows, which benefits planning and resource utilisation.”, says Karin Petersson, COO at Svensk Plaståtervinning.
The regulations behind
Cross-border shipments of waste are regulated by EU Regulation (EC) No. 2024/1157.
Prior approval is granted by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and ensures that:
The receiving facility is approved and handles the waste in an environmentally safe manner.
The transporter and sender are reputable operators with documented control over their processes.
Complete documentation is available regarding the nature, quantity, route, purpose, handling and recycling or destruction of the waste.
